The Eagle Nebula

January 16, 2024

The Eagle Nebula, also known as Messier 16 (M16) or the Star Queen Nebula, is a breathtaking celestial canvas painted with vibrant hues and dramatic shapes. It's a stellar nursery, a place where new stars are born from the swirling clouds of gas and dust. The most iconic feature of the Eagle Nebula is undoubtedly the Pillars of Creation, immortalized in a now-legendary image captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. Located roughly 7000 light-years away in the constellation Serpens, this nebula stretches across 70 by 55 light-years, making it a vast cosmic landscape to explore.
