A Layperson's View of Future Technology and Society
Upon researching future cities, I found many statewide future city design contests for students, a few articles on green buildings and not much more. Popular Science has a cool Flash presentation of a future city. The links can be found below. I'll keep looking. If you know of any good future city sites, please submit them below to share with all.

The concepts in your image of the future city are long outdated, e.g., skyscrapers in large parks (ala Corbusier) and monorail trains. These have been economic failures. The future lies mainly with multimodal automated and robotic personal vehicles and dense low rise buildings expanding out into parks and historical city districts. This will be a form of New Urbanism transformed by adopting a synthesis of old and new PRT ideas. (See the Innovative Transportation Technologies website.
