April 2024 Skywatching Tips

April 2, 2024

As the sky prepares to put on a grand show in April 2024, with the eagerly anticipated solar eclipse leading the celestial parade, stargazers and astronomy enthusiasts are in for a treat. This natural spectacle not only captivates our imagination but also offers a unique opportunity to witness the wonders of the cosmos.

The path of totality for the April 2024 eclipse will stretch across North America, promising a spectacular view for those situated along its route. From Mexico through the United States and into Canada, cities along this path will experience darkness in the middle of the day, as the moon's shadow sweeps across the Earth. Observers outside this path will still enjoy a partial eclipse, an equally mesmerizing sight.

On April 10th and 11th you can watch Mars and Saturn rising in the morning low in the East. On the evening of April 10th you can find a sliver of a Moon next to the bright planet Jupiter in the west. Credit: NASA.
