With its competitive demand for speed and convenience, the pizza industry has all the ingredients to help blaze a trail to our automated future. Why pizza? It is in high demand worldwide and the tasks required are repetitive and relatively easy from a robot's point of view.

Outside of the warehouse, there are not many places you can find a robot at work. The pizza industry is developing robots that are working wih humans safely--and that technology can be used by other industries once they work out the bugs.

Autonomous delivery is another technology to which pizza could provide a boost. Not so much in development, but as an avenue to bring self-driving vehicles, including drones, to the masses.
