Smart Running Shoes

July 21, 2025

The Avelo smart running shoe features advanced biomechanics with real-time coaching to help runners improve performance and reduce injury risk. Developed by a team of industry veterans from brands like Nike and Under Armour, the Avelo supertrainer is designed not just as a high-performance shoe, but as a data-driven training platform.

The Avelo shoe is equipped with embedded sensors within the midsole that continuously measure impact forces, running form, and mechanical load throughout each run. These sensors operate without the need for charging and transmit data to a companion app that provides real-time audio feedback and post-run analysis. The app generates three key metrics: Resiliency Score that evaluates the cumulative mechanical stress on the body to guide recovery and prevent overtraining, Efficiency Score that assesses running economy and form to help optimize performance, and Form Radar that detects deviations in technique that may signal fatigue or potential injury.

Beyond its smart features, the Avelo shoe uses a lightweight TPEE foam midsole paired with a PEBA propulsion plate. With an 8 mm drop and a 36 mm heel stack height, the shoe weighs approximately 8 ounces in men’s size 9, striking a balance between cushioning and speed.
