Smart Ring Tracks Blood Pressure
April 22, 2024
The Ring X is the first smart ring we have featured with a blood pressure monitor. This smart ring uses photoplethysmography (PPG) technology to measure and records tiny changes in blood flow. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a simple optical measurement technique that can be used to detect blood volume changes in blood vessels. It is painless and non-invasive, using light-based (LED) technology to measure the blood flow dynamics in your body.
Here's how it works: a PPG device emits light which then penetrates the skin. The light is either absorbed by the blood cells or reflected back to sensors in the device. The amount of light absorbed is directly related to the amount of blood flowing in that area.
The Ring X also monitors heart rate and variability, oxygen saturation (SPO2), skin temperature, respiratory rate, sleep, stress, and more. It can operate for 5 days of continuous use on a 90 minute charge. It is available in black ceramic, titanium steel, and 18K gold .
