Smart Pet Feeder Kit
January 3, 2026
The ELECFREAKS Classroom Smart Pet Feeder Kit is an educational robotics product designed to teach students about programming, sensor integration, and automation. This kit focuses on cultivating hands-on skills and innovation by allowing users to build a functional automated pet feeder.
The device operates using a two-step detection process to ensure accurate feeding. First, a PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor detects the presence of a pet approaching the feeder. Second, a Sonar:bit ultrasonic sensor measures the distance to confirm the pet is within a specific range, typically 20 centimeters. When both conditions are met—motion is detected and the subject is close enough—the system triggers a 180-degree 9g servo motor to rotate, dispensing food from a storage container. After the cycle is complete, the servo returns to its original position to await the next activation.
In terms of hardware, the kit generally includes an IOT:bit expansion board for easy connection of sensors, the PIR sensor, the Sonar:bit, a servo motor, and various plastic rivets for assembly. The feeder ELECFREAKS Classroom Smart Pet Feeder Kit is integrated into a small wooden house structure called the Smart Home Material Pack.
