Smart Bike Helmet

January 11, 2026

The Lumos Ultra is a smart bike helmet designed to improve safety and visibility for urban commuters. It features an integrated lighting system with 30 white LEDs on the front and 64 red LEDs on the back, providing 360-degree visibility to help drivers and other road users see the cyclist from all angles. The lights are capable of reaching up to 284 lumens and offer various flashing patterns that can be customized through the companion smartphone app.

The helmet includes functional turn signals that can be operated via a remote or compatible Apple Watch gestures. It is also capable of automatic brake lights, which detect sudden deceleration to warn traffic behind you, though this may require an optional upgrade or specific remote setup. For impact protection, the helmet is available with Mips (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) technology, which allows for slight movement inside the shell to absorb rotational energy during a crash.

The design focuses on comfort and durability for daily use. It is constructed to be lightweight, weighing approximately 370 grams for the small and medium-large sizes, and features nine vents to ensure airflow during warmer rides. The helmet has an IPX6 waterproof rating, making it suitable for riding in rain and other adverse weather conditions. It comes in three sizes—Small, Medium-Large, and Extra Large—and is available in a variety of colors including Charcoal Black, Jet White, Electric Lime, and Deep Blue Mix.

Powering the smart features is a rechargeable 3.7V 1100mAh Lithium Polymer battery that provides between 4 to 10 hours of runtime depending on the lighting settings used. Charging takes approximately 3 hours via a provided cable. The helmet connects via Bluetooth 4.0 to the Ride Lumos App, where users can track battery life and adjust settings.
