Robotic Emotional Support Animals

January 22, 2026

Tombot produces hyper-realistic robotic emotional support animals designed specifically to assist individuals dealing with health adversities such as dementia, anxiety, depression, and loneliness. The flagship product is an animatronic puppy named Jennie, modeled after a golden Labrador. Unlike traditional consumer robots, these are engineered as medical-grade companions for people who cannot care for a live animal but would benefit from the emotional connection and calming presence a pet provides.

The design of the Tombot puppy utilized decades of experience in animatronics and puppetry to ensure the robot’s appearance, feel, and movements were as lifelike as possible. The puppy features high-quality faux fur and is capable of nuanced facial expressions and body movements. To enhance the realism, the robot uses actual recordings of a 12-week-old Labrador for its barks and sounds.

Technologically, the puppy is equipped with an array of interactive sensors located throughout its body, allowing it to respond to touch in a way that feels natural. For example, it can distinguish between being petted, hugged, or held. It also features voice activation software, enabling the puppy to respond to specific commands such as being told to speak. The device is fully rechargeable, designed to be plugged in overnight to provide a full day of interaction, similar to a smartphone.
