Quadruped Robot Kit
August 31, 2025
The ELECFREAKS XGO Robot Dog Kit V2 is a quadruped robot designed to make artificial intelligence and robotics education accessible, engaging, and hands-on. Built around the BBC micro:bit platform, the XGO V2 offers a playful yet technically rich experience for students, hobbyists, and educators looking to explore the fundamentals of mechanics, electronics, and programming. With 15 degrees of freedom and a fully articulated robotic arm, the robot mimics lifelike movements and interactions, from walking and turning to gripping and carrying small objects.
The kit includes an exclusive expansion board designed to integrate seamlessly with micro:bit’s golden finger connectors, streamlining installation and reducing bulk. This board also supports additional modules and sensors, allowing users to expand the robot’s capabilities with ultrasonic sensors, joysticks, or environmental monitors. The XGO V2’s head is equipped with block positioning holes, enabling users to attach building blocks and create hybrid designs that blend robotics with creative construction. The robot dog kit features pre-programmed gestures—over 19 built-in routines—can be activated via a mobile app or programmed through Microsoft MakeCode, giving users the freedom to customize behavior and explore coding logic in a visual, beginner-friendly environment.
The XGO V2 is equipped with a self-stabilizing motion system. Whether walking on uneven surfaces or transitioning between poses, the robot maintains balance and fluidity, offering a realistic simulation of quadruped locomotion. This makes it an ideal platform for teaching concepts like gait control, inverse kinematics, and sensor feedback in a way that’s both intuitive and visually rewarding.
