Painting and Finishing Robot
June 30, 2025
The EG7 painting and finishing robot is a fully autonomous construction robot developed by Okibo to streamline wall painting and drywall finishing tasks. Designed for commercial and residential job sites, the EG7 combines AI-guided navigation, modular hardware, and a compact footprint to deliver high-speed, high-precision surface finishing without the need for manual labor or site preparation.
The Okibo EG7 has a patented AI-driven 3D scanning and real-time modeling system. This technology allows the robot to autonomously map its environment, detect surface contours, and apply paint or plaster with consistent coverage. Unlike traditional systems that rely on external markers, BIM tools, or manual measurements, the EG7 operates independently—requiring no cords, hoses, Wi-Fi, or external sensors.
The robot weighs approximately 800 pounds (362.8 kilograms) and measures just 27 inches (68.5 centimeters) wide, allowing it to pass through standard doorways and navigate tight spaces. Its omnidirectional swerve drive system provides agile movement in confined environments such as multifamily housing, office buildings, and healthcare facilities.
The EG7 features a modular design with quick-detach components, enabling it to switch between painting, sanding, and plastering applications. Its onboard 18-gallon hopper can be swapped for a dust collector, and the end effectors use a quick-change system for maximum flexibility. Power is supplied by standard 5 kWh club cart batteries, which are easily replaceable and support extended operation without external power sources. In addition to its performance capabilities, the EG7 is CE-certified, meeting stringent safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards. It also contributes to improved jobsite safety by reducing dust exposure and eliminating the need for workers to perform repetitive or hazardous tasks such as ladder work.
