Handheld LiDAR Scanner
March 17, 2026
The 3DMakerpro Raven is a handheld, prosumer-grade LiDAR scanner designed for large-scale spatial capture. Positioned as a more affordable and portable alternative, the Raven series aims to produce high-accuracy scanning for architects, VR developers, and estate professionals. The device is built around a standalone architecture, meaning it features an onboard 8-core processor and a 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen, allowing for real-time monitoring and processing without being tethered to a smartphone or computer.
Technically, the Raven utilizes a 905 nm laser system to achieve a scanning radius of up to 50 meters and an accuracy of approximately 2 cm at a distance of 10 meters. It captures 150,000 points per second with a field of view of 360 degrees horizontal by 40 degrees vertical. For color data, the standard Raven is equipped with a single 1/2-inch 12 MP Sony sensor, while the more advanced Raven Max utilizes a dual-camera system for faster RGB capture. The scanner also natively supports 3D Gaussian Splatting (PLY), facilitating the creation of hyper-realistic digital twins with vibrant textures.
The Raven's design emphasizes mobility and field use, weighing just 1.1 kg. It features a modular ecosystem with a quick-release battery handle that provides up to 120 minutes of continuous scanning. To accommodate various professional needs, the system is compatible with several expansion kits, including an RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) module for centimeter-level positioning, a backpack kit for mobile scanning, and even mounts for bicycles or vehicle rooftops. It also supports third-party 360-degree cameras, such as the Insta360 X4, for higher-resolution panoramic color capture.
