Gaming Glasses
January 14, 2026
The ROG XREAL R1 is a pair of gaming glasses unveiled at CES 2026, designed to provide a portable, large-screen experience for PC and console gamers. They feature dual micro-OLED displays with Full HD resolution and offer a 240Hz refresh rate. This high refresh rate ensures smooth motion and visual clarity, making them suitable for fast-paced competitive titles. The optical system provides a 57-degree field of view, which simulates the experience of viewing a 171-inch screen from a distance of four meters.
To enhance usability, the glasses include a feature called Anchor Mode, which uses built-in 3D depth-of-field technology to pin the virtual screen to a fixed position in space. This allows the user to look away from the content to see the real world or other physical monitors without the virtual display obstructing their view. This mode functions without requiring additional software on the connected device. The glasses also feature adaptive brightness to match ambient lighting conditions and include manual tint controls. Audio is handled by integrated speakers featuring Sound by Bose technology.
For connectivity, the ROG XREAL R1 connects via USB-C, making it compatible with handhelds like the ROG Ally, smartphones, and laptops. The package also includes the ROG Control Dock, a dedicated station that simplifies integration into home setups. The dock offers two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4, allowing users to connect multiple devices, such as a gaming PC and a console, and switch between them easily. Settings for the glasses can be adjusted via the ASUS DisplayWidget Center app.
