The SwitchBot Lock Ultra is a high-performance smart lock designed to retrofit onto existing door locks without the need for drilling or permanent modifications. The device is marketed as fitting approximately 99.9% of door locks, including standard single deadbolts and, with adapters, jimmy-proof and mortise locks.

The Lock Ultra features versatile unlocking capabilities. While the core unit supports app-based control and voice commands, pairing it with accessories like the SwitchBot Keypad or Hub expands the potential unlock methods significantly. Users can unlock their door using a fingerprint, NFC card, numerical passcode, Apple Watch, or even facial recognition if the appropriate keypad is used. It also features a fast unlock mode that unlatches the door in roughly 0.3 seconds.

The Lock Ultra integrates into broader ecosystems through Matter support, though this requires a compatible SwitchBot Hub (such as the Hub 2 or Hub Mini Matter Enabled). This allows the lock to work with major platforms like Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. The lock also supports direct Bluetooth integration with Home Assistant for local control. It includes a sophisticated power management system with a rechargeable main battery that lasts up to 12 months, a backup battery, and an emergency capacitor to ensure the door can still be opened even if the primary power sources fail.
