Educational Robot Arm

July 5, 2025

The Hiwonder LeArm AI Desktop Robot Arm is a programmable robotic platform designed for education, prototyping, and hands-on exploration of artificial intelligence and automation. Built with a full aluminum alloy frame and powered by an ESP32 controller, the LeArm combines mechanical precision with intelligent control.

LeArm features a six-degree-of-freedom structure driven by smart bus servos. These servos offer high torque, position feedback, and smooth motion, enabling the arm to perform complex tasks such as object sorting, face recognition, and voice-controlled manipulation. The system uses an inverse kinematics algorithm to calculate precise joint movements, allowing the end effector to reach target positions with accuracy and efficiency.

The LeArm supports a wide range of sensors and modules, including AI vision, ultrasonic ranging, voice interaction, infrared detection, and accelerometers. These modules enable advanced capabilities such as color recognition, facial identification, sound-triggered actions, and distance-based responses. For example, the robot can identify and sort colored blocks, recognize and respond to specific faces, or follow voice commands to perform sorting tasks.

Users can control the LeArm through multiple interfaces, including a mobile app, PC software, wireless PS2 controller, and even a wireless glove. The PC software offers both graphical slider-based control and coordinate-based programming, while the app provides Bluetooth connectivity for quick and intuitive operation. The system is also compatible with Arduino, Scratch, and Python.

The LeArm is available in several kit configurations, ranging from a basic starter version to an advanced package with full sensor expansion. Each kit includes comprehensive tutorials, open-source code, and circuit schematics, allowing users to dive into robotics, AI, and programming with guided support.
