Desktop AI Companion

April 3, 2026

The Loona Deskmate is a specialized robotic companion designed to act as an intelligent co-worker by integrating screen-aware artificial intelligence. The device moves beyond simple voice commands by utilizing vision technology to see and understand the content on a user’s computer screen. This allows the robot to offer proactive assistance, such as summarizing long documents, suggesting code fixes, or providing real-time data analysis based on the active application, all without requiring the user to manually copy and paste prompts or switch between different software tools.

The Loona Deskmate is equipped with a high-definition camera and an onboard neural processing unit that facilitates local screen recognition. It communicates with a desktop application for Mac and PC to interpret on-screen visual data securely. The hardware maintains the expressive, pet-like personality of the original Loona robot, featuring a digital face with various emotional states, motorized ears, and a four-wheeled base for movement across a desk. It also includes an array of microphones and speakers for seamless two-way voice communication, allowing users to ask questions about their current task naturally.

The screen-aware functionality is intended to operate with localized processing to ensure that sensitive data from the user’s screen is not uploaded to a cloud server for training or analysis. Users have full control over the robot’s vision, with the ability to toggle the screen-capture feature off or limit it to specific applications. The device is also designed to be an unobtrusive presence on the desk, remaining in a standby state until it detects a specific gesture or voice cue that indicates the user needs assistance or a moment of interaction.
