Biomimetic Drone

February 16, 2026

The Swift is a high-performance biomimetic drone, or ornithopter, that mimics the natural flight of birds by using flapping wings instead of traditional propellers. The Swift is designed for a fluid, organic flying experience that generates lift through real aerodynamics, making it feel more like a living creature than a machine in the air.

Technically, The Swift is engineered for versatility, offering two interchangeable tails to suit different environments. The Speed Tail allows the drone to reach top speeds of 19.2 mph (31 km/h) for exhilarating outdoor flights, while the Precision Tail enables stable, ultra-slow flight as low as 2.17 mph (3.5 km/h), perfect for indoor use. The device is equipped with next-generation stabilization sensors, including a real-time gyro and IMU, which act as a digital co-pilot for precision and a zero-drift experience even in light winds. Despite its complex internal mechanics, the drone is incredibly lightweight at just under .4 ounces (10.9 grams), utilizing an EPP foam body reinforced with carbon fiber and titanium.

Control is managed through a smartphone app compatible with iOS and Android, which offers four different flight modes and fully configurable interfaces. For pilots who prefer more tactile feedback, an optional patented X-Play joystick accessory transforms the smartphone into a true RC-style controller. The Swift also features micro-wheels for ground takeoffs on smooth surfaces like tiles or asphalt, as well as a multicolor LED system with seven selectable colors for enhanced visibility during dusk or night flights.
