Autonomous Selfie Camera

August 8, 2025

The HOVERAir X1 is a pocket-sized self-flying camera designed to make aerial videography effortless, intuitive, and accessible to everyone. Unlike traditional drones that require manual piloting or smartphone control, the X1 takes off from your palm and autonomously captures cinematic footage using pre-programmed flight paths and advanced computer vision.

Weighing just 4.4 ounces (125 grams) and measuring smaller than an iPhone, the X1 is exempt from FAA registration and built for portability. Its foldable frame and enclosed propellers make it safe to use around people, pets, and in tight spaces. With a single button press, users can activate intelligent flight modes such as Hover, Follow, Orbit, Zoom Out, and Bird’s Eye—each designed to frame the subject dynamically while keeping them centered in the shot.

The camera captures video at up to 2.7K resolution at 30 frames per second, with HDR support and triple stabilization for smooth footage even during fast motion. The X1 tracks your movement at speeds up to 15 miles per hour (24 kilometers per hour), using visual inertial odometry instead of GPS. This makes it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, including areas where GPS signals are weak or unavailable.

Battery life averages around 11 minutes per flight, with each battery supporting roughly 20 intelligent flight paths. The drone includes 32 GB of internal storage and connects to the HoverAir app for live previews, manual control, and media downloads. Sound isolation features allow users to record audio through their phone while minimizing drone noise, making it perfect for vlogs and social media content.
