Autonomous Lawn Mower
September 8, 2025
Roborock, long known for its robotic vacuum technology, has taken a bold step outdoors with the launch of the Mow Z1—an autonomous lawn mower that blends intelligent navigation, rugged engineering, and hands-free operation into one all-terrain machine. The Mow Z1 autonomous lawn mower is built to handle complex yards, steep slopes, and tight corners with the same finesse as Roborock’s top-tier indoor floor cleaning robots.
The Mow Z1 features a dual-navigation system that combines Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning with Visual SLAM. This hybrid approach allows the mower to map and maneuver with centimeter-level accuracy, even in shaded areas where GPS alone would falter. The result is a mower that can trim within 1.2 inches (3 centimeters) of walls, fences, and garden edges—no boundary wires required.
The Z1’s all-wheel-drive system features four independently controlled motors, giving it the ability to climb slopes up to 80% grade (approximately 38.6 degrees) without slipping or losing traction. Its dynamic suspension adapts to uneven terrain, while obstacle detection sensors help it avoid pets, toys, and garden furniture.
Roborock’s Sentisphere AI powers the mower’s decision-making, enabling it to recognize lawn zones, optimize cutting paths, and even suggest mowing schedules based on grass growth and weather conditions. Users can customize patterns—stripes, spirals, or freestyle—via the companion app, turning their lawn into a canvas of geometric design. The Z1 can mow up to 53,800 square feet (5,000 square meters) per day, making it suitable for large properties and estate-level landscaping.
The mower’s cutting system uses high-speed blades with adjustable height settings, allowing users to tailor the trim from a close shave to a lush finish. When the battery runs low or rain is detected, the Z1 automatically returns to its charging dock, ensuring uninterrupted operation and protection from the elements.
