8 Inch Windows Gaming Handheld

November 12, 2025

The ONEXFLY APEX is an 8-inch Windows gaming handheld with modular expandability, featuring up to 128GB RAM, 120Hz VRR display, and a 120W power envelope. The APEX features an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a Zen 5-based chip with integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics and a dedicated XDNA 2 AI engine. This SoC supports a configurable TDP of up to 54W, but the APEX’s thermal and power design allows it to scale up to a staggering 120W peak power draw with external battery support—unlocking desktop-class performance in a mobile chassis.

The display is an 8-inch native landscape IPS panel with a 1920 × 1200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support. The APEX supports configurations up to 128GB LPDDR5X RAM and includes a modular mini SSD bay for hot-swappable storage expansion. This allows users to carry multiple game libraries or project environments on separate drives and switch between them without rebooting. Internal storage options scale up to 2TB NVMe, with PCIe Gen 4 speeds for rapid load times.

Thermal management is handled by a dual-fan, triple-heatpipe system with intelligent fan curves and optional liquid cooling with the Frost Bay accessory. This external cooling dock connects magnetically and enables sustained high-TDP operation without throttling. The APEX also supports an 85Wh external battery pack, extending runtime and boosting power delivery for demanding sessions.

Audio is tuned by Harman, with dual front-facing speakers and spatial sound processing for immersive gaming and media playback. The device includes a full suite of I/O: USB4, USB-C, USB-A, 3.5mm audio, and a microSD slot. Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for low-latency peripherals and cloud gaming.
