3D Vision Robot Arm
September 19, 2025
The Hiwonder ArmPi Ultra ROS2 3D Vision Robot Arm is a compact yet powerful robotic platform designed to bring advanced AI, vision recognition, and human-machine interaction into classrooms, labs, and maker spaces. Built around the open-source Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) and powered by a Raspberry Pi controller, the ArmPi Ultra is a gateway to embodied intelligence and real-world AI experimentation.
At its core, the ArmPi Ultra features six intelligent serial bus servos, each delivering up to 25 kilograms of torque. This allows for precise, stable motion across six degrees of freedom, enabling complex tasks like object sorting, spatial grabbing, and dynamic tracking. The arm’s all-metal construction and industrial-grade bearing base ensure durability and smooth articulation, even under demanding workloads.
The ArmPi Ultra is equipped with a a high-performance 3D depth camera. Using RGB+D fusion, the system captures color, position, and depth data simultaneously, allowing the arm to identify, locate, and interact with objects in three-dimensional space. The platform also includes the WonderEcho AI voice box, enabling voice-controlled interaction and natural language processing. Combined with multimodal large AI models, including ChatGPT integration, the ArmPi Ultra supports intuitive human-robot dialogue, scene understanding, and task execution based on verbal commands.
The ArmPi Ultra supports Python programming, OpenCV, YOLOv8 object detection, MediaPipe gesture recognition, and simulation environments like Gazebo and MoveIt. Tutorials and documentation walk users through everything from inverse kinematics to real-time control. Available in multiple configurations—with or without Raspberry Pi 5 boards ranging from 4GB to 16GB—the ArmPi Ultra is modular and scalable.
