14 Inch DTF Printer

December 27, 2025

The OMTech Aurora is a 14-inch Direct-to-Film (DTF) printer currently being funded on Kickstarter. This printer features a true 14-inch effective print width, allowing it to handle designs suitable for garments up to size 5XL while minimizing film waste. The flagship model, the Aurora D1 Pro, is equipped with dual Epson I1600 printheads. This configuration enables print speeds of up to 50 square feet per hour, which is significantly faster than many entry-level competitors. It delivers a high resolution of 720 x 1800 DPI, ensuring sharp details and vibrant colors for professional-grade apparel decoration.

To address common maintenance issues associated with DTF printing, the Aurora includes several automated systems. It features timed auto-cleaning and an automatic moisturizing system that keeps the printheads from drying out during inactivity. Additionally, the machine incorporates white ink circulation and stirring mechanisms to prevent sedimentation and clogging, which are frequent problems in white ink printing. These features are designed to reduce downtime and ensure consistent print quality.

The printer is available in two main configurations: the standard D1 and the high-performance D1 Pro. While the D1 is geared towards startups with a single printhead and slower speeds, the D1 Pro offers the dual-head setup and higher throughput. It supports a roll-to-roll workflow with automated powdering and curing solutions available to create a seamless production line.
